About Me

Hello,

My name is Rick Hageman.  Photography has been a part of my life since the late '70s.

I originally attended Riverside City College in Riverside, California in 1979-80 as a photography/graphic arts major.  I began working in the field shooting portrature as a traveling photographer.  I occasionally shot weddings as well.  I eventually ended up in a permanent portrait studio in San Bernardino, Ca and shot family portrature for the next couple of years.

Times were tough and the money was less than stellar.  I decided, even though I loved what I did, that I needed to persue something that was more financially rewarding.  I tried retail, but lost interest after a handful of years.

Thanks to my father being a great handyman and a talented woodworker, I had good basic skills in that area.  I managed to land a position as an apprentice furniture maker in Corona, Ca.  I worked as a furniture and cabinet maker for the next eight years.   I often supplimented my income by doing side work.  I enjoyed designing and drawing my projects as much as building them.  Maybe even more...

In my early thirtys I decided to go back to school and learn about design, drafting and mechanical engineering.  I am now a Senior Mechanical Designer and have been in this field for over seventeen years.  I finally found my other calling...

All the while, the photography bug kept tugging at me.  With the advent of high quality digital photography and the internet, I can once again enjoy being a professional photographer; this time as a part time job.
